CES PTO NEWSLETTER


        


Lip Sync


Sign Up: Tuesday, February 12 from 6-7pm in CES Cafeteria
Lip Sync Event: Friday, April 12 at 6:30pm in MHHS Auditorium

SIGN UP: 

• In person, Tuesday, February 12th 6-7pm in the CES cafeteria.  

• Bring attached form and a CD or flash drive with their first song choice only.  

• The song on the CD/drive should be cut to approximately 3 minutes (no more than 3 min 15 seconds) and exactly as the group will perform it. We will not cut songs for groups.  

• Flash drives and CD’s will NOT be returned.   


GROUPS:  Need to consist of 3 or more students. 


SONGS:   

• Songs are reserved on a first come, first serve basis. 

• Limited to a time limit of 3 minutes or less (no more than 15 seconds over) 

• Must be appropriate content that does not contain adult themes or language (consider Kidz Bop version).  


INSTRUCTIONS TO CUT SONGS: If using iTunes to cut a song you can do the following:  Add song to a new playlist → right click your song of choice → choose “Get Info” → click “Options” tab → click “Stop” box → enter the stop time of the song →the song has now been changed for burning →after burning you will need to follow the same process again, this time unchecking the “stop” box returning song to its original full-length format.  


PARENT COORDINATOR(S): 

• One or two parents should be designated as the coordinator of the group. 

• These people will receive communications from the organizers and be responsible for sharing information with the rest of their group  


REHEARSAL: Wednesday, April 10th starting at 5:30 pm in the High School Auditorium.   


SHOW FORMAT:  

• Two acts:  Act 1 – Grades K-2 / Act 2 – Grades 3-6 

• Mixed groups will be grouped based on the majority of their members 

• There will be two reserved seats in the front row for parent choreographers to help students follow along (if desired).

Keep sending in your Box Tops! The grade that collects the most before February 11th wins the trophy for the month! Look for our new Box Tops Tracking Poster on the wall at CES for students to see how their grade is doing throughout the month! The grade that collects the most Box Tops by the end of the year will receive a pizza party!


6th Grade Fun Night

Friday, March 1st at 6:00pm

Enjoy games, food and fun with friends!

Parent volunteers will be needed for this event. More info to come!

Nothing opens a child's mind faster than a good book. We let our young members know how much we value literacy by offering three opportunities to earn money for reading books. Students in grades Kindergarten through 12 can earn up to $10 ($2 per book) during our Fall, Winter and Summer Reading Programs. Click here to download the form and you could earn up to $30 per year!*

 

Book Entry Guidelines
Ages 4 to 8 submit a drawing of a scene or the cover
Ages 9 to 12 submit a 50-word written summary
Ages 13 to 18 submit a 100-word written summary

 

Get Money to read ALL year long!
Summer Reading: July 1 - August 31
Fall Reading: October 1 - November 30
Winter Reading: February 1 - March 31

 

How do I submit?
Submit the entry form with the book summaries to any branch location for an immediate deposit. Scan and email us or mail a copy to: CAP COM FCU, Attn: Great Grades, 4 Winners Circle, Albany, NY 12205.

Children in our School Banking Program can include a copy in a sealed envelope on School Banking days, or send a fax to (518) 435-7224.

  • Amazon Smile – go to www.smile.amazon.com and select or change your charitable organization to Castleton Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization. *Note that you must shop on Amazon through the Amazon Smile site in order for the school to earn money.

  • Scrip E-Gift Card Program - You can order the e-gift cards all year long and they will be sent directly to your e-mail for immediate use! We will plan to do another physical gift card bulk order in the spring.

  • Link your bank account to enroll in online payments or send a check into school payable to: CES PTO. Please label your envelope “PTO Scrip Order.

  • Colonie Center Points – Every time you shop at Colonie Center, you can help CES earn points. At the end of the school year, Colonie Center will give away $20,000 in cash to the top 10 schools!! Bring any receipt for any purchase at Colonie Center (including restaurants, movies, travel agency, etc.) to the Customer Service desk (1st floor by Five Guys). They will record the amount of the purchase ($1 = 1 pt). 

  • Price Chopper Tools for Schools – Register your Price Chopper Advantage Card (https://www.pricechopper.com/tools-schools) to help our school earn points! School Code is 15721. 




***Our next PTO Meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 5th at 6:15pm in the CES Library. Free babysitting is available! ***
